At Pottstown Regional Community Foundation (PRCF), we believe that health is a fundamental human right. Yet for many residents across western Montgomery County, northern Chester County, and eastern Berks County, equitable access to healthcare, nutritious food, safe spaces, and emotional wellbeing remains out of reach. PRCF’s Health Intervention work directly confronts these gaps through targeted grantmaking, collaborative partnerships, and strategic investments that expand wellness opportunities for all.
True health extends far beyond medical care. It is shaped by the environments we live in, the resources we can access, and the community connections we build. PRCF invests in:
Community data and research are available to inform local planning and advocacy through our Research & Community Data page.
Physical and behavioral healthcare access for uninsured and underinsured residents.
Mental health and substance use prevention through counseling, trauma-informed care, and recovery programs.
Community-based resources and education that empower residents to manage their wellbeing.
Safe public spaces like parks, playgrounds, and trails that promote daily activity and social connection.
Nutrition and active living initiatives that make healthy choices accessible and affordable.
We support clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and school-based providers offering medical, dental, and behavioral health services for uninsured and underinsured residents. By reducing financial and logistical barriers, care becomes attainable for all families.
PRCF funds trauma-informed programs, crisis intervention, counseling, and recovery supports, while promoting community education to reduce stigma. Visit our “Community Resources” page for mental health services.
Programs like the “Regional Home Garden Contest” and the “Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds Institute” foster healthy eating and active lifestyles, ensuring residents have tools for sustainable wellness.
With over $3 million invested in outdoor infrastructure, PRCF partners on accessible parks, trails, and playground projects. Residents can explore these resources through our “Outdoor Activity Finder”.
Programs such as “Pottstown Play Streets” bring free recreation, wellness screenings, and social connection directly into neighborhoods, closing access gaps and strengthening community ties.
This award-winning summer program transforms residential streets into safe, car-free play zones filled with games, sports equipment, and resource booths. Play Streets addresses disparities in park access while connecting families with vital community services.
A seasonal community celebration engaging residents across ten municipalities in gardening, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. Participants grow vegetables, flowers, and pollinator habitats, promoting both physical and mental health.
Cross-sector partnerships such as the Pottstown Area Food Collaborative and Tri-County Health Council align nonprofits, municipalities, and healthcare providers to tackle systemic health challenges through coordinated action.
