The Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation’s cornerstone is its grants program. As a result of the recently completed Spring 2010 grant round, the Foundation has awarded 49 grants totaling $1,706,485 to area schools and non-profit organizations that lie within our service area.

The following list includes a complete list of grant recipients for Fiscal Year 2010 and lists how they are using the funds to benefit Pottstown area residents.

The Foundation distributes grants according to its four long-term goals:

  • Goal 1: Reduce Behavioral Risks
  • Goal 2: Improve Access to Medical Services
  • Goal 3: Enhance Formal and Informal Supports
  • Goal 4: Improve Physical and Social Environment

In support of the “Reduce Behavioral Risks” goal, the Foundation is investing $767,400 in 33 community organizations, schools and programs:

  • BCS Yes! – Health, Fitness and Nutrition program
  • Boyertown Area School District - BASD Brain Body Connection
  • Brookside Montessori - Growing Up Fit wellness program
  • Carson Valley Children's Aid - Women's Voices, Healthy Choices Program
  • Centro Cultural Latino Unidos, Inc. (CCLU) –S.A.L.U.D. Academy health & wellness program
  • Coventry Christian School – Keep ‘Em Moving – Enhancement of physical education and nutrition education programs
  • Daniel Boone Area School District - Coordinated School Health Program
  • Developmental Enterprises Corporation/Pottstown training Center - Heathly Eating, Healthy Living
  • Falkner Swamp Nursery School, Inc. – Exercise & Wellness programs
  • Family Services of Montgomery County – Project HEARTH – Helping Elderly Remain in Their Homes
  • Fellowship Farm, Inc. - Continuation of HOPP Program (Healthy Options for the People of the Pottstown Region)
  • Holcomb Behavioral Health System – Life Skills program for vulnerable adults and their children.
  • KenCrest Centers – REACH 2 Project (Resources and Education for Achieving Complete Health (Partially funded by PAHWF East Auxiliary)
  • Maternal and Child Health Consortium of Chester County – Healthy Start Prenatal Program
  • NAACP - National Association for the Advancement of Colored People - Youth HDAV Prevention Program
  • Olivet Boys & Girls Club - Services to Ricketts Center
  • Owen J. Roberts School District - Fit for Life
  • Perkiomen Valley School District - Comprehensive Scholl Health Programs
  • Pope John Paul II High School - Program, equipment and formation of Wellness Council
  • Pottstown Area Seniors’ Center – Enhancing Prime Time Health.
  • Pottstown Family Center– Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program
  • Pottstown School District - Healthy School Communities Initiative
  • Pottstown School District - PEAK (Pottstown Early Action for Kindergarten) Readiness Initiative
  • Royersford Outreach, Inc. - General Operating Expense
  • Sacred Heart School - Playground Equipment & C.A.T.C.H Program
  • Spring-Ford Area School District - Healthy Choices 2010-2011
  • St. Aloysius School – Steps to a Healthier You – Fitness & Nutrition Program
  • The Growing Center, Inc. - Horticutural Center
  • The Tennis Farm - Summer Scholarship program for free tennis instruction
  • The Triskeles Foundation - Food for Thought Nutrition Education for Youth
  • West-Mont Christian Academy – Healthy Snack Program with Fresh Fruits and Vegetables.
  • YWCA TriCounty Area - Summer Out of School Quality Time Program
  • YWCA TriCounty Area - Healthy Choices program

In support of the “Improve Access to Medical Services” goal, the Foundation is investing $711,085 in eight community organizations, schools and programs:

  • ALCLAMO -Conexiones por Salud - Community Health Projects
  • Christian Concern Management & Development Corporation – Van Service for Amity Manor residents in Douglassville (Funding provided by the PAHWF East Auxiliary)
  • Community Health and Dental Care, Inc. – Six-month request for sustainability of a community-based healthcare center
  • Community Health and Dental Care, Inc. – Dental Supplies (Funding provided by the PAHWF East Auxiliary)
  • Community Health and Dental Care, Inc. – Six-month request for consulting services
  • Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries – Volunteer Home Care – Support for Boyertown and Pottstown Area Volunteer Home Care Teams (Funding provided by PAHWF East Auxiliary)
  • Montgomery County Community College – Dental Sealant Day
  • VNA Community Services, Inc. - Personal Navigator Program with Expanded Legal Support Services

In support of the “Enhance Formal and Informal Supports” goal, the Foundation is investing $210,500 in two community organizations and programs:

  • Building a Better Boyertown - Boyertown Farmer's Market
  • Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County-Mission Kids – Initiative for Research and Development of Infrastructure
  • Pottstown Area Police Athletic League – PAL Administrative and Operatingl Support
  • TriCounty Community Network - Community Collaboration, Prevent, Education
  • United Way of Boyertown - Matching Grant for Annual Campaign
  • United Way of Southeastern PA - Matching Grant for Annual Campaign

In support of the “Improve Physical and Social Environment” goal, the Foundation is investing $17,500 in one community organization:

  • Camphill Village Kimberton Hills – Aging in Community program.
  • Preservation Pottstown - Bike Pottstown
