Program Officer - Schools, Recreation and Active Living
Requirements: The Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation is seeking a Program Officer to coordinate our school and recreation grantmaking in southeastern Pennsylvania. The desired candidate should be conversant in capacity building and impact measurement for these program areas. They will also be asked to relate to other program areas of the Foundation, as well as lead, and/or participate in selected programs with grantees. For example, the Foundation sponsors and leads the annual Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Institute every summer.
Familiarity with grantmaking and grantwriting, ability to relate to public/private schools effectively, and experience in team building is important. An understanding of the key interplays between nutrition, physical fitness, education, and preventative medicine will be insightful. Preference will be given to candidates with experience. The ability to multi-task is a prority. A master's degree is preferred. A competitive compensation and benefits package is offered.
Background: The Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation is a conversion health foundation created in 2003 with assets of approximately $84 million, and annual grantmaking of $3 million. For the past 11 years, the Foundation has funded programs to reduce obesity in children and families. Through public and private school-based nutrition and fitness programming and a recently coordinated regional recreation program, our grantmaking and convening seeks to encourage active living. Over the past five years, student obesity levels in some schools in our region have decreased. We are recognized as a leader in linking recreation to health in Pennsylvania. Recent needs assessments have measured health outcomes, used psychographics, and have taken a focused lens on trauma. Our service area is defined by a 10-mile radius with 230,000 residents.
Salary range: $65,000 - $90,000 commensurate with experience.
